About Our
Social Worker Program
We have centered our efforts on going to where the community is, listening to needs, building trust, and providing technical support and wrap-around services directly to families navigating the complexities of immigration, education, healthcare, housing, and city resources.
The Community Comadres program provides wrap-around services and technical assistance to support families navigating state and local programs & applications. Through this program, we are advocating for Latino and immigrant families and have successfully expanded this visibility into local health, housing, food justice, courts, and other local systems

Doula – Maternal Health
The LES Doula Program, led by Monica, is dedicated to providing holistic and culturally responsive care to mothers and families in Spokane. Guided by cross-cultural experiences and rooted in Indigenous knowledge, the program embraces diverse traditions and practices to offer comprehensive support throughout conception, pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period.
Monica is an experienced doula, leads the program with compassion and expertise. She provides tailored educational, emotional, and physical care to mothers, especially those who face challenges such as being uninsured, navigating limitations to health access, or lacking family support due to immigration barriers. Her care incorporates traditional practices, evidence-based techniques, and specialized methods like the Rebozo technique, which integrates the use of herbs and teas to support mothers’ well-being. Monica is certified in Breastfeeding Training with Meagan, Dulce (Mexican Doula Practices), Peer Group Facilitator Training, Full Spectrum Doula training with ATL Doula Collective, and the Rebozo technique utilizing specialty herbs and teas.
At the heart of the LES Doula Program, is the belief that every mother deserves a safe, welcoming, multicultural, and multilingual space where they feel empowered, valued and supported. By addressing the unique needs of underserved families, the program promotes healthy beginnings and stronger communities. Research shows that those who have a doula’s support during pregnancy can experience shorter labor, have lower chances of needing a cesarean section, and report a more positive birth experience.
