Since 2020, Latinos En Spokane has diligently organized free monthly legal and immigration clinics in partnership with Gonzaga Law School, the Spokane County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Program, and Washington Courts. These clinics offer free legal consultations and advice, assistance with navigating court processes, reviewing documents, and court self-help services.
In 2024, we launched the Poder Legal Department, which provides civil and immigration legal support to low-income Latino individuals and families disproportionately affected by systemic inequalities in the legal system. Poder Legal focuses on addressing the unique legal needs of Latinos and immigrants in Eastern Washington, ensuring access to justice and resources for this underserved population.

Court Self-Help Services

General Legal Aid
At our center, we specialize in providing resources and assistance for individuals who are seeking guidance in navigating the legal system. While we are dedicated to supporting people through these processes through our Washington Courts Self-Help Center, it's important to note that we do not offer legal advice.
Instead, we provide self-help services, guidance, and resources to empower individuals to navigate the necessary steps themselves. Our focus is empowering individuals to control their situations and work towards a brighter future.
Immigration Services
During the 2024 legislative session, Washington State Legislature passed House Bill 2368, expanding the authority of the Department of Social and Health Services Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance to support asylum-seekers' basic needs. Working in collaboration with the WA MASS program through DSHS, Poder Legal is providing pro se immigration assistance exclusively to individuals registered through WA MASS.
At this time, Poder Legal is not accepting new immigration cases outside of this referral system, ensuring focused support for program participants.
